Vendaval

Carefreeness, how do you translate this into French? C-a-r-e-f-r-e-e-ness, I tell her, gesturing as if I had castanets in my hands. When you can smile at the little things, when you realize the stupidity of problems at work, absolutely solvable, when you look outside and, even if it has been raining all weekend, a ray of sunshine has just come out that has coloured the facades of the buildings pale yellow. Lègéreté, here we are. The smell of fireplaces, I have not smelled this for a year. It is not sad that summer is over; a season of hot chocolate and chestnuts opens, of films on the sofa and 'social distanced' dinners among a few. Groups of three-year-old dwarves accompanied by very patient teachers covered in masks and fluorescent jackets, roam the streets of the center. School visits to museums have started again after a pandemic winter that lasted even one summer. And which unfortunately is not finished yet, but which nature overlaps.   And the universe has decided that i...

Vendaval

Spensieratezza, come traduci questo in francese? S-P-E-N-T-E-Z-A no, no! ...

Inhale the future, exhale the past

<< You are not here only to train your body, this is the moment for you to look inside >>, with this sentence today Tania, the yoga teacher, opened to an entire class crammed with experienced and less experienced yogis who were by that time suffering in silence  a 3 minutes pose, while the muscles of the legs and arms lengthened more and more. The pain has not disappeared, the feeling that every muscle fiber was stretching, loosening even excessively, simply gave its way to another thought. My brain took the lead and focused on inner reflection thus overlapping the pain of stretching. Looking inward is one of the least common things during the day. Committed as we are to pursuing our responsibilities, schedules, our commitments and those of others, the expectations we have about ourselves, we lose sight of the listening. We are there for a friend who needs advice, or for a colleague who needs to let off steam after an argument with a superior, but we don't allow o...

Inspira il futuro, espira il passato

<<You are not here only to train your body, this is the moment for you to look inside>>, cos ì oggi Tania, la prof di yoga, ha detto mentre un’intera classe piena zeppa di yogi esperti e meno esperti soffriva in silenzio in una posa durata 3 minuti, mentre   i muscoli delle gambe e delle braccia si allungavano sempre pi ù .

Reunite

Reunite with whom, with what? After 7 weeks of solitary confinement, in which you have alternately cried cooked spilled tears and anger or smiles and good mood, yoga or running, pasta or rice, meat fish or I become a vegetarian .... reuniting is the only thing I'd like right now.  I've always traveled farther and farther because otherwise... what taste there is to go where I can go at any time ... now, I just want to go back to my family, doze off on the rocking chair  watch the ants carry very heavy balls in very long lines. Or play tennis with her on the beach when the sun disappears behind Strombol i. Or simply wake up, go down and grab a fig from the fridge while mom prepares me coffee, yeah I can do it on my own but if she prepares it is always better. There must be a secret she doesn't want to reveal in her coffee, because it's never so tasty when I do it by myself. I look at flights and rules and Schengen and here yes, there you cannot go, but if you are reg...

Ricongiungersi

Dreams and nostalgia

Would I be  trivial if I tell you about the nostalgia for the scent of sesame buns? The sesame in Sicily is called giuggiulena and was imported by the Arabs. From them it was learned to cultivate it and to use it for example to prepare the cubbaita , a crunchy sesame with honey and almond chips. In fact, its name comes from quibbiat , almond, in Arabic, beautiful. Almonds, those of the almond trees blooming in Agrigento, sway in the wind while you watch the 'Bacchantes' from the arena of the Greek theater. This Greek theater, which the Greeks called the Concordia theater, stands in a valley full of other temples that looks like a movie set. And in fact in a film you feel when you are sitting on the same benches for millennia. Or when, soaking your feet on Stromboli sea, sipping a soda, you watch the lava slowly descending on the sea. The sea, from which they catch swordfish from the second century BC. Fish with swords... more  a movy than this !? The same sea that d...

Quarantine: ups and downs

The battle during this quarantine is that, being unable to quarrel with anyone, those who live alone like me, are constantly confronting wiht themselves. Me for instance ... The strong girl is back. Strong indeed, only with myself though. I have often scolded myself in my life. But only for things done badly, never for those not done at all, because actually ... I've done them all thhose that I wanted to do. But now I also feel very vulnerable (ok, painful menstruation that like this never before...on a normal day I would have just taken an Ibuprofen but today it's all a mental process, like once again you make someone hurt you, don't get moody because of someone else ... Let me take a breath!). Many - are - crude , simply. And in the absolute desire to give you an opinion of which, among other things, it does not matter, they can hurt you. Wait, I love those who say what they think . But the truth of someone who wants to hurt you is not the truth. It is a judgment c...

Prendi me...

25 April, quarantine, I resist

This is the flower of the Partisan who died for freedom. For all of us. The song says that partisan wants to be buried up there on the mountains so that his death makes sense. So the people who pass will remember what the partisan died for. Let's not forget to celebrate the memory of this day. That April 25th is an important date for Italians. That April 25th is the opposition to a regime. That April 25th is the Italian liberation. Simple words, perhaps not suitable for a blog. But as heavy as rocks. For everyone, even if political propaganda is being done today for anything, this is a very important day. Democracy, the one that gives you the chance to express your opinion, even you do not sing Bella Ciao , and which I respect, is born with the blood of our ancestors. You who vote, you who organize yourself into associations, you do it thanks to those who fought before you, to have these rights. Freedom is not a...

25 Aprile, quarantena, e Resisto
